The Volunteers have opened as 7-point favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NCAA Basketball Odds.
South Carolina Gamecocks (9-13): The Gamecocks are coming off a demoralizing 86-52 home loss to Kentucky on Saturday in which their 44.6 percent shooting and 45 percent from 3-point range actually marked their best showing in SEC play. One of few bright spots was freshman guard Damien Leonard's season-high 19 points, including four 3-pointers.
Tennessee Volunteers (11-12): First-year coach Cuonzo Martin decided to shake up the lineup before Saturday's 73-62 win over Georgia, relegating point guard and leading scorer Trae Golden (12.9 points) to reserve status. Golden might have earned back a starting job with his team-high 16 points and five assists in 28 minutes. The Vols have tightened their defense in conference play, allowing only 60.6 points compared with their season average of 65.9.
1. Tennessee senior guard Cameron Tatum needs six points to reach 1,000. He will become the 44th Tennessee player to reach the milestone.
2. South Carolina's scoring woes - the Gamecocks rank among the bottom tier in the nation at 62.5 points - have been worse away from home. They average only 59.2 points on the road.
3. The Vols win and lose games behind the 3-point arc. They shoot 39.8 percent from 3-point range in wins and 29.8 percent in losses.
